History of Chene Liquor

Chene Liquor, also known as Ideal Market, was a store in the neighborhood of Poletown East along the Chene Corridor that burnt down in an arson fire on May 30th, 2013. After the owners left for a "break," when they returned the building was on fire. Later that night, 5 other arson fires also happened between midnight and 1 am. The owners are suspected of starting the fire, as shortly after their "break" started, black smoke emerged from the building as the fire began. The building today sits in a burnt-out state, with no proper floor as the fire took the original one. Plywood sheets are stapled to the floor foundation, which have dry rotted over the years and act as a false floor. The building is very dangerous and not advised to enter.
