Michigan Central Station
Originally closed 1988, reopened to the public June 6th, 2024
For over 30 years the Michigan Central Station sat abandoned after Amtrak left the station in early 1988, over the years various owners have owned the station, but little was done to the station until Ford Motor Company bought the building in 2018 to turn it into their technology and cultural hub in the heart of Corktown, since 2018 the station has gone under extensive renovations totaling over 1 billion dollars, after damage to the building over those 30 years of being abandoned left the building in a nearly unsalvageable state, on June 6th, 2024 the station was reopened to the public after 6 years of fixing the building, we visited the Iconic Station on the last day on September 2nd, 2024 and still crowds upon crowds of people showed up to see the station of which many grew up with
